What are the Slate Tiles, Clay Tiles and Cedar Shingle Roofing materials made of?We use an innovative polymer blended with UV stabilizers and fire-retardant additives. These additives improve our products’ resistance to extreme conditions. Novik uses only virgin materials, which enables us to ensure product consistency and resistance.
How can I be sure of the Roofing products quality and durability?All of Novik products are certified and tested in independent laboratories. For example, our products are guaranteed to withstand winds up to 110 mph and maintain their resistance even under extreme temperature variations (-40°F to 158°F). Plus, they are class C fire rated with an optional class A and class 4 rated against impact. Our roofing is covered by a 50-year limited warranty.
Will I have to repaint my Novik product after a few years?No. Novik products are virtually maintenance-free. Working with its industrial partners, Novik has developed color pigments, additives and UV stabilizers that are uniformly blended into the polymer, guaranteeing resistance to streaking and discoloration.
What are the differences between Novik Slate Tiles and standard asphalt shingles?Slate replica stands out for its high resistance to harsh conditions and discoloration. Plus, its incredible ease of installation will surprise many. Slate replica is also differentiated by its 50-year warranty covering both labor and materials. The NoviSlate system is also a lot lighter per surface unit than asphalt shingles.
Can I install Slate Tiles directly on top of asphalt shingles?No. Old shingles must be removed before installing NoviSlate (or NoviClay) tiles. A sealing membrane must be laid to ensure complete water-tightness.
What kind of nails should be used?We recommend using 1.25 in. hot dip galvanized nails to prevent rust and ensure efficiency and lasting of the system. Should I purchase extra product for installation?Yes. 5-10% should generally be added to allow for siding cuts. Waste can vary according to roof configuration.
How long can I expect my Novik Roofing products to last?Contrary to asphalt shingles that have a short life cycle, Novik polymer roofing systems are permanent solutions for a lifetime investment.
Does the rain make a lot of noise on Novik roofing products?No. The panel system reduces sound transfer through the attic.
Does the system contribute to heating the home in the summer time and cooling it in the winter?No. Unlike asphalt shingles that store and transfer heat, the unique system of polymer panels maintains the air flow between the panels and roof deck, thus reducing the transfer of hot or cold air through the attic and contributing to energy savings.
Is a polymer roofing system resistant to fire?The Novik polymer roofing systems are class C fired rated (with an optional class A).
Will leaves, debris or dirt damage my roof?No. The Novik polymer roofing products have a smooth surface permitting rain to wash away leaves, dust and other debris.
How will the roofing react to high winds?Novik roofing systems meet the industry’s most severe tests and resist winds that surpassed 110 mph.
Will hail damage Polymer Roofing systems?The special polymers used by Novik are very resistant. Hail of an excessive size could damage any roofing, whatever the material. However, Novik polymer roofing systems have a class 4 impact resistance rating ( hail impact), that is to say the most severe in the industry. Follow security rules on harnessing. Is it safe to walk on a Novik roofing product?Yes. It is possible to walk on roofs covered with Novik roofing systems as long as you follow necessary safety procedures. At what distance from the edge of the roof do I have to install my NoviShingle starter Strip?Leave 1 5/8’’ between the bottom of the drip edge and the top of the starter strip.
Can I use screws to install the Clay Tile product?Yes
When do I have to use the ridge aeration flexible membrane?When the roof ridge wab built to ventilate.
Can I install snow guards after the roof installation is completed?The plastic snow guards can be installed on a finished roof but not the copper ones.
How do I install the last panel if the nailing channel had to be cut off?Drill holes in the panel and fasten as usual. The diameter of the head of the nail as to be twice as big as the diameter of the hole drilled in the panel. For cedar plank and perfect shake panels, drill oblong holes to allow expansion and contraction of the panel.
How can I start installing a siding product in a space that does not allow the installation of a starter strip? Ex : narrow wall cornerSiding: Install the bottom of the panel in a J-trim and fasten on the wall as usual. If needed, fasten the bottom of the panel hidden by the J-trim. Do not forget to pre-drill.
Roofing: Install the bottom of the panel in a flashing and pre-drill.
